2015/16 SC Youth Soccer Regional Event Review

It’s July and that means that the US Youth Soccer Regional season has concluded once again. SC Youth Soccer brought 29 teams to two separate regional events (Region III Presidents Cup and Region III Championships). All of the teams did everything in their power to advance to their respective National Championship event, but just 2 SC Youth Soccer teams remain in the hunt for a US Youth Soccer National Championship.

The two teams remaining are the SCUFC 01 Boys Elite and CESA U19 Girls.

SCUFC 01 Boys Elite earned their spot in the US Youth Soccer National Championships via their strong performance in the US Youth Soccer National League.

CESA U19 Girls earned their spot in the US Youth Soccer National Championships after winning the 2015/16 U19 Girls US Youth Soccer Region III Championship.

SC Youth Soccer also had a number of teams fall just short of their own Region III Championship.

The SCUFC 99 Girls Elite lost in extra time of the 2015/16 U16 Girls Region III Championship match 3-1. In the 76th minute of an 80 minute match SCUFC 99 Girls Elite trailed FL 0-1, but just a minute later they were able to score and send the match into extra time. Sadly they were unable to be victorious after extra time, but they were able to secure a position in the US Youth Soccer National League for the 2016/17 season after their outstanding performance.

The CESA 98 Boys Premier fell in kicks from the mark in the Championship match of the 2015/16 Region III Championships. The boys showed great resilience recovering twice from trailing by a goal to send the match into extra time and eventually kicks from the mark. CESA scored in the 76th minute to even up the score 1-1 and also in the 89th minute to tie the score 2-2. CESA 98B Premier were the defending Region III Champions and had won last year via kicks from the mark, but unfortunately couldn’t do the same in back to back years.

The CESA 96 Boys Premier also made it into the Region III Championship match in the U19 Boys Division. They fell 0-2 to a strong team from Florida, but they did an admirable job to finish 2nd in Region III!

SC Youth Soccer also broke a few of our records at the US Youth Soccer Region III Championships:
-Most teams to play in the finals in a year: 4 (previously 3 [2012])
-Most teams to advance to the knockout stage: 11 (previously 9 [2015])

Great job to all of the teams that competed in this June’s Regional Events!!
