
FRISCO, Texas (July 18, 2018) – North Texas Soccer side Mutiny FC 02 White claimed the 16-Under Girls US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup title with a 2-1 win over LVPSA 02 Red (NV) in the finals. The tournament took place at Grand Park Sports Complex in Westfield, Ind. from July 12-15.
After falling to LVPSA 1-0 on the opening day of play, Mutiny rebounded in a big way on the second day of play with a 4-0 win against Indy Premier SC 02 Elite (IN) courtesy of goals from Avery Jennings, Hayley Wolfe, Reece Wildt and Evelyn Slaughter. Mutiny secured a trip to the finals with a 2-0 win against Montgomery United 2002 (PA-E) on the final day of the group stage as Ivona Kelic and Slaughter found the back of the net.
Ashley Vensel put the North Texas side up 1-0 in the finals, but LVPSA would equalize in the 43rd minute. Slaughter would net her third and final goal of the tournament in the 53rd minute to put Mutiny up for good. Goalkeeper Rachel Bump received the Golden Glove Award as the most outstanding goalkeeper in the age group. 13-Under Girls Sting Dallas 05 Roach also competed at the National Presidents Cup, ultimately finishing in third place.
The four-day event featured 48 US Youth Soccer Boys and Girls teams in the 13U through 18U age groups that have earned their way to the National Presidents Cup via success in their respective US Youth Soccer Regional Presidents Cup events.
