ODP Summer Camps

Summer of 2017

Every spring, we select players in each ODP age group to represent Arkansas ODP at a variety of summer camps across the southern US.  Our goal is to send players to camps that match their current level of abilities, as assessed across all ODP training sessions held over the previous 5 months.

We have a new event ODP Leadership Development and Team Building scheduled to help prepare our individual players and teams heading to camps in July.  We are going to have a leadership camp and overnight event at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas.  The players will arrive for check-in on Friday night at 5pm and check-out on Saturday by noon.  The team will have challenges to do, play games, listen to lectures in leadership as individuals and teams, and volunteer at a community event.  The Little Rock Rangers will serve as part of the staff for the event and also learn about college athletes, international soccer, and what it's like to play for a semi-professional team.  00-04 Boys and Girls June 23-24 5pm-noon and cost is $125.  05-06 Boys and Girls June 30-July 1 5pm-noon and cost is $125 (includes ticket to WPSL game),

Players in the 05-06 age groups will travel out-of-state to ODP Pre-Regional III Development Camp in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This event take place over a period of 4 days July 16-19.  The camp will focus on technical development and tactical decisions in various small sided activities over the weekend.  For some of the younger players, this will be their first experience on a college campus and away from their families.  We have designed this camp to challenge the players in a competitive environment in preparation for future events in ODP.  Cost is $450 (pay in full or payment plan option)

Selected players in the 00-06 age groups will have an opportunity to train and compete as a team at the ODP Subregional College Combine. The college recruitment and selection process while also gaining more familiarity with their peers from across the state ahead of the Region III Camps. Cost is $150.  Here is the reserved hotel block from North Texas: Hotels

Finally, selected players in the 00-04 age groups will travel to Alabama in July for the Region III Trials. There, they will train under the guidance of a US Youth Soccer Region Staff Coach, compete against ODP State Teams from across the entire Southeast, and work to be selected to the Region III ODP Team. Players will also be seen by a significant number of active college coaches at each Region Camp; as an example, most of the Boys staff from the states and region are college coaches and 90% of the Girls Region Staff are College Coaches.  Cost is $650 (pay in full or payment plan option)

2017 Camp Selections

The selection lists for this year's ODP summer camps are available below.  Please note the following details...

  1. We DO NOT offer transportation to our camps and families are responsible for getting players to the camps and events.  We strongly encourage players to carpool to ODP events, and we will help by keeping track of any additional space in carpools.  If you choose to fly to Birmingham, Alabama, please contact Jennifer so we can arrange airport transportation to/from camp (may be an additional fee).
  2. We have posted the Selected Rosters to all events for the summer. If your name is not highlighted, please register for your events by Wednesday, May 10 at noon.  We have selected players based on ability and team formations and we would like the players to attend all events for the age group so we can build the team cohesiveness for Region camp.05-06 players were selected based on level of play within the group and looking to spark players to continue to develop in the ODP program.  If you are a highlighted yellow player, you are an alternate. Alternates should not register for the specified camp at this time, but are strongly encouraged to leave those dates open so that they can participate should other players not be able to attend.  We had to select players for teams so we had to draw the line of cuts based on level of the players and needs of the teams as a whole.  Being cut does not mean you should stop playing soccer, there's just more technical or tactical work we think the player needs to do before playing at the ODP level or we have a lot of similar players in the depth chart.  Alternates will be emailed/contacted May 11 to fill any positions that are open.
  3. We have provided two payment options for each camp--you can pay in full on your initial registration, or choose an installment option that will automatically process payments on the dates indicated.  This will make registration much easier than in prior years, as you will not have to "re-register" to pay remaining installments in GotSoccer.  If you need to arrange for a different payment plan schedule, please let us know and we can set up an individualized plan for you.
  4. The Leadership Overnight Events at War Memorial are for the teams to help with team cohesiveness in preparation for the camps in July. We will have lectures about leadership and how to work as a team.  Part of their leadership experience will be community service.  The Little Rock Rangers players will be part of the staff for the event with an opportunity to ask questions about being a college athlete, international experience, and playing at the semi-professional level.
  5. The 05-06 Boys and Girls camp at University of Tulsa is new for 2017.  The players will receive advanced training with college coaches from around the region who will give the players instructions for making quicker decisions tactical with high technical expectations for the players.  It will also expose the players to a college campus and high training environment without being too far from home.
  6. Alternates will be called as space is available.  Lists will continue to adjust until all spots are finalized and deposits are done.
