From Jen Pfeiffer:
Thank you for the opportunity to work with all of the players, coaches, referees, parents, spectators, and the next generation of soccer enthusiasts involved in Arkansas State Soccer Association. I have been involved with soccer since I was a little kid playing in the local community recreation league with all the neighborhood kids. Our parents were the coaches and when the league started a travel program, one of the parents volunteered as our coach. I became a coach in high school as a role model to the younger players in our community and developed my own soccer camp as a college player. Fast forward another 20 years and I am still coaching but now as an educator and inspiration to other coaches who are starting on their coaching path.
Most recently, I was the Associate Director of Coaching for Illinois Youth Soccer Association responsible for coaching education courses, ODP programming, recreational development, referee reviews, and traveling all corners of the state to increase the membership for US Youth and US Soccer. As a part of Region II, I helped with the Development Camp for the youngest 2002 age group as a Leadership team on the boys’ side. Illinois Youth Soccer Association has advanced another team to the National ODP Championships this year so I have experienced a high level program with almost 800 players in our state pool.
Previous to the state position I have been a college coach at multiple divisions of NCAA, NAIA, and Junior College programs and a professor in the Exercise and Sports Science department. I enjoyed coaching at all levels of clubs with recreational players and the top players like the Chicago Red Stars Reserve team. When you find players who enjoy the game, it is fun to coach them at any level of soccer.
I am a big fan of education so I have my licenses from the United States Soccer Federation which include the A, National Goalkeeper, National Youth, and a Referee license. I have also attended courses through the National Soccer Coaches Association of America which include Premier, Advanced Goalkeeper, and Youth National diplomas. My undergraduate degree was a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and my Masters of Science in Coaching Education was from Ohio University. I believe in great conversations about soccer and learning new concepts and ideas by listening, attending, and watching fellow coaches in soccer.
I look forward to meeting the members of Arkansas State Soccer Association and discussing how we can improve the level of soccer across the state and expand the membership so everyone is enjoying a wonderful game of soccer.
