2012 Volunteer of the Year Announced!

Congratulations Jim Cherry!

Jim Cherry, coach at Fayetteville Parks and Rec, was honored this past weekend at the Arkansas State Soccer Association's Annual General Meeting as the 2012 Volunteer of the Year!

His award is being presented by Will Maffit, ASSA President.  If you see Jim around the fields, congratulate him on a job well done and thank him for his tireless efforts to educate our youth about the beautiful game!

 

Arkansas Coach & Referee Win Regional & National Awards!

Congratulations Kristina Henry and Klay Babin!

Kristina Henry, Arkansas' very own Bentonville HS Girls Coach, NWA Lightning SC Coach, and ASSA ODP Coach, was recently honored at the NSCAA Convention in Indianapolis as the Southwest Regional Women's Coach of the Year for Division I High School Girls! Klay Babin, one of Arkansas' own referees, recently won the 2012 ESPN/Disney Referee of the Year Award, which is an annual award that they bestow upon a referee who had a good year at their events. He also got an honorary photo with Mickey Mouse and an ESPN trophy! Klay refereed the U17 Boys Showcase Final between BCFC Rangers and Baltimore Bays on ESPN3.

If you see Kris or Klay around the fields, congratulate them on a job well done and thank them for representing Arkansas!

The tiebreaker rules were invoked in two cases.  For the U19 Girls, Rush beat out NWAL Strikers 96 on the first tiebreaker (winning head-to-head, 3-2).  For the U14 Silver Girls, Westside beat out Comets 00 Navy on the third tiebreaker (winning with NGD of +10 versus +6).
